Integrated Design Process

The integrated design process (IDP) is a design methodology where the design team establish sustainability goals and work together iteratively to develop a building design to meet those goals.  Integral to this process is the development of an energy model of the building.  This allows for the quantification of the energy impact of design changes.  Both LEED and the C-2000 program promote the importance of the integrated design process as part of green building design.

At the earliest stages of design, the most impact can be made with the least impact on the project cost.

GreenSim has been a member of several design teams following an integrated design process.  We have also participated as a simulator in several design Charrettes organized by Sustainable Buildings Canada aimed at demonstrating and promoting IDP.
